About

Purpose

The Roxbury Scholarship Foundation (RSF) is a tax-exempt organization that serves the citizens of Roxbury by providing financial assistance to selected post-high school scholars in pursuit of their educational goals.

The Foundation’s charter specifies that scholarships be awarded on the basis of financial need, academic achievement, and character, with need being given first consideration. Financial information for establishing need is reviewed by an accountant who does not live or work in Roxbury and is not seen by RSF board members.

Scholarship Awards Committee

Serving independently from the Directors is the Scholarship Awards Committee (SAC) which consists of five townspeople who serve for up to three years. This committee is informed by the Board of Directors of the total amount of scholarships to be awarded. The SAC receives and evaluates the detailed written applications and academic records, interviews each applicant, and recommends to the Board of Directors the candidates’ names and the amounts of the individual scholarships.

Contributions

None of this assistance would be possible without the generous contributions to the RSF by the citizens and friends of Roxbury. Each year every household in Roxbury is asked to contribute to the RSF.
